Connect for Health Colorado Becomes Early States to Launch Ad Campaign
In early May, Connect for Health Colorado became the first state-based Health Benefit Exchange to launch a health reform advertising campaign, placing ads on television, radio, and billboards. While some states are waiting until later in the summer or early fall to begin paid advertising, Connect for Health Colorado has emphasized the need to raise general awareness about the exchange and what will be offered to individuals and small employers. This campaign is, in part, fueled by market research conducted in the state that demonstrated that only one in ten Coloradans know what a health insurance exchange is. This early wave of advertising is designed to improve that number and to educate consumers about the changes to come.
The theme of the Colorado advertising is “When health insurance plans compete, you win.” Some examples of television ads are here, here and here.
