State-Based and Partnership Exchanges Receive Conditional Approval
Seventeen states and the District of Columbia have received conditional approval from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which means that—based on documentation provided by the state—the agency believes they are on track to successfully implement a state-based exchange. States received conditional approval letters that outlined areas that need attention from exchange officials. Conditional approval applications for state-based exchanges were due December 14, 2012.
Two partnership states have also received conditional approval: Arkansas and Delaware. Partnership applications are due February 15, 2013.
