SCI Supports Implementation of Health Reform in Connecticut
Last July, the Connecticut legislature passed the Sustinet Plan, designed to achieve universal coverage in the state. A consortium of foundations, including the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation through the State Coverage Initiatives (SCI) program, is supporting the work of the Sustinet Board of Directors to prepare for implementation and integration of the program with federal health reform requirements. Enrique Martinez-Vidal, director of SCI, joined the other funding organizations for a special news conference highlighting the foundations’ efforts to help the state improve care, cut costs, improve electronic record-keeping, address racial and economic inequities in the system, and support improved care coordination through medical homes.
The initiative was highlighted in various press outlets, including the Health Affairs Blog.
