Most States Anticipated Implementing Streamlined Eligibility And Enrollment By 2014
The ACA requires a streamlined process for determining eligibility and enrolling applicants in the state health exchanges, Medicaid, and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) by January 1, 2014. This report assesses the states’ readiness to implement the streamlined eligibility and enrollment systems. It found that 35 of the 45 state respondents anticipate implementing streamlined eligibility and enrollment systems, streamlined application forms, and data sharing and matching by January 1, but they reported needing more information and guidance on a number of topics.
