Mississippi Level One Establishment Grant Narrative
Mississippi applied for the Level One grant June 30, 2011 and was awarded $20,143,618 from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on August 12, 2011. Among other activities, the state expects to use the funding to:
- Continue its planning for the establishment of a state-operated health benefit Exchange.
- Conduct an extensive public education and outreach program to inform consumers about access the health insurance through the exchange
- Continue to coordinate with Medicaid, CHIP and other appropriate programs regarding eligibility determination and other Exchange activities
- Provide assistance to individuals and small businesses.
