Increased Participation in Medicaid and CHIP in 2009
This report from the Urban Institute used ACS (American Community Survey) data to analyze Medicaid/CHIP eligibility and take-up from 2008 to 2009. The authors report national and state-level take-up rates among children who are eligible for Medicaid/CHIP, along with the uninsured rate among eligibles. Overall, the number of eligible children increased across the country, but an increased participation rate reduced the number of eligible-but-uninsured children by about 340,000.
