Summary of Benefits and Coverage and the Uniform Glossary
The proposed regulations provide consumers with an easy-to-read summary of health insurance coverage options. The proposed rule, modeled on NAIC recommendations, requires a health plan to provide a four-page summary when consumers shop for plans at the beginning of each plan year, starting in 2012. The rule also includes a standard template that insurers must follow.
