CA-Low Income Health Program (LIHP)
California's Low Income Health Program (LIHP), is the new Medicaid-based program that California will use to expand the public insurance program in advance of the federal expansion in 2014. The California expansion will be locally run, with each of its 58 counties offering benefits to new populations, sometimes as high as 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Line. Enrollees will begin to come online in June 2011. The goal is to get 500,000 covered within the next year.
