NE-Medicaid Reform
On April 8, the Nebraska legislature approved two bills implementing changes to Medicaid resulting in savings to the program. The first bill would eliminate Medicaid eligibility for legal immigrants, saving the state $2.6 million per year, and the other would allow the state Department of Health and Human Services to implement copayments for services received by Medicaid enrollees, saving an estimated $450,000 in fiscal years 2012 and 2013.
