NC-Law Could Generate More Medicaid Funds
North Carolina governor has signed legislation instituting taxes on providers that would bring in additional federal Medicaid funds. The new law imposes an annual assessment—equity assessment and upper payment limit (UPL) assessment—on hospitals and use the revenue derived from the assessment to obtain additional federal Medicaid funds. The assessments would also provide the state Medicaid program with $43 million in additional annual revenue.
