SCI Webinar: State Approaches to Health Benefit Exchange Legislation

Many states are working to develop exchange authorizing legislation by the end of this legislative session. On April 14, 2011 State Coverage Initiatives (SCI) hosted an opportunity to hear from three of those states: Maryland, Missouri, and Nevada. The presenters commented on their states’ proposed governance structure, board requirements and conflict of interest provisions, how they expect the exchange to handle procurement and hiring, and any potential policy issues that are addressed in the legislation. Presenters also talked about the process of getting legislation proposed and passed as well as their work with stakeholders and the public.
